October is one of the best months to be on the Outer Banks, with cooler weather, fall traditions, live music, great food, and plenty of reasons to get out and explore. Here are a few local events worth adding to your calendar this month.
October 2026 Outer Banks Events:
October 2 | Manteo
Spend the evening strolling downtown Manteo with live music, local artists, food, drinks, and specials throughout the shops and restaurants. First Friday runs from 6–8 PM and is always a fun way to kick off the month.
October 3, 10, 17, 24 | Manteo
Fall at Island Farm means pumpkins, cider, historic games, crafts, demonstrations, and plenty of family-friendly activities. The Pumpkin Patch takes place on the first four Saturdays in October from 9 AM–3 PM.
October 8-10 | Outer Banks
Spend three days touring some of the Outer Banks’ newest homes, renovations, and commercial projects while seeing the latest in local design and craftsmanship. This year’s Parade features 18 properties stretching from Corolla to Avon.
October 10-11 | Duck
Bring a chair or blanket and settle in at Duck Town Park for a weekend of live jazz. This annual fall favorite is free to attend and pairs great music with one of the prettiest settings in Duck.
October 14-17 | Manteo
Bluegrass Island Music Festival
Bluegrass Island brings several days of live music to Roanoke Island Festival Park, with the sound serving as the backdrop. It’s become a favorite fall tradition for bluegrass fans from near and far.
October 17 | Nags Head
Come hungry for a day celebrating the Outer Banks’ fishing heritage with local seafood, live music, artisan vendors, and plenty of coastal flavor. The festival also supports the local commercial fishing community.
October 23 | Manteo
Seafood, live music, and a great cause come together at Pirate’s Cove Pavilion for the fourth annual Cancer Shucks. The evening benefits local cancer services and programs for patients in the Outer Banks community.
