Remembering a Special Lady, Shirley Venente

Heaven gained an angel in the early hours of Monday, February 19th, 2018, Shirley Venente. She loved living here on the Outer Banks and all the friends she made here, and the volunteer work she did at Hotline, The Baum Center, and many other places. She will be missed by so many.

When we moved to the Outer Banks in 1996, Shirley was our only neighbor. She lived right across the street from us and quickly became a huge part of our lives. Moving here and not knowing anyone with two small children, building your own home, starting a new business, Shirley came to our rescue. She helped us with Sam and Amanda from the very beginning. She was our go-to person for the kids. We enjoyed the summers when her daughter, Lisa, and grandson, Andrew, would come to visit, and the kids played together for hours, going from one house to the other, to the beach, to building forts in the backyard. We talked about that this week on our daily visits to sit with Lisa and Yvonne as they cared for their mom.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lisa and Yvonne and their families as they go through the days, weeks, and months ahead. Thank you for letting Shirley be a part of our lives, we miss her. See her obituary here.
