About Us

Mark and Sandy Martin formed Sandmark Construction and Real Estate, Inc. in 1995 with the Custom Home and Custom Renovations Division. This division quickly earned an award winning reputation. Sandmark’s Construction division specializes in custom homes and custom renovations. The Real Estate division was started in 2002 to provide the same customized service in the sale of re-sale homes and home sites.

Mark and Sandy’s goal for the Construction and Real Estate. For Custom Homes and Custom Renovations division to build the best constructed homes on the Outer Banks by paying special attention to every detail throughout the design and building process. For the Real Estate Division to provide the best customized Real Estate service available on the Outer Bank and for Sandmark’s clients to realize their dreams of home ownership on the Outer Banks.

Mark grew up in Stafford, Virginia and learned the business from his father. Mark started out working in heavy construction in Northern Virginia and worked on the reconstruction of the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Sandy grew up in Reston, Virginia and also learned the business from her father. Sandy started out as a pre-school teacher in Reston and left to join her father’s company. Mark and Sandy met while attending George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Soon after meeting Mark joined Sandy at her father’s company. Mark started out as a laborer and worked his way up to Project Manager. Sandy handled marketing and customer service.

Mark and Sandy have been working together for the past twenty years, first at Sandy’s father’s design/build firm in Northern Virginia and the last ten years here on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Mark and Sandy have two children, Sam who is in 10th grade at First Flight High School who enjoys, golf, cycling, fishing, computer games and Boy Scouts and Amanda who is in 8th grade at First Flight Middle School who enjoys track, surfing, cheerleading, tumbling and talking on the telephone.
